Wow, what great Italian food is served here! My sweetie and I have eaten here 6 times and have never been disappointed! I am a pretty good cook, and I can tell you, the ingredients that go into la Forketta's food are top shelf. their pasta dishes, ranging in price of 10 to 14 dollars are remarkably good. Their specials are incredible. They have a wine and beer license now. This is a delightful restaurant, and I will guarantee, you will be glad to find this restaurant. Lunch and dinner are served at traditional times.

A small, but very nice restaurant. The husband and wife team that own the place turn out some very high quality dishes. The portions are reasonable and the quality of every dish I have had is superior to most every other Italian Restaurant I have ever been to and I have been to all the high end places in South Florida. The Penne Alla Carbonara is wonderful and the cream sauce has a very rich flavor. The Orecchiette Broccoli E Salsiccia is just perfect... not too much sausage, but just the right amount and , of course bursting with flavor. They have individual pizzas for about $5-$12 and they are great... thin and crispy. My favorite is the Frutti Di Mare with tomato, mozzarella, octopus, calamari and shrimp. Everything starts with fresh baked bread and olive oil. This is a great little place. Reservations are suggested to assure yourself a seat.

I have to share what feels like my little secret !! This place is outstanding, the bread is light and perfect, the pork in broccolo cream sauce is delicious and the pasta bolognese is rich and flavorful. I am sad that I cannot eat more today, but I will be back everyday for fantastic food at very reasonable prices. The pizza looks great too lovely decor, a must must must if you like 5 star food at 2 star pricing !!

Agree, restaurant has potential - got some slices of bread delivered in a small brown bag - no olive oil w/garlic or balsamic - or at the very least 'butter'? Arrived w/a reservation - but they were still surprised & took a while to put a table together - which again, was odd since the restaurant only had 4 other people eating. Chicken parmesan was overdone on edges; minestrone soup was not overwhelming; cabernet was very marginal - I believe my expectations were set too high from the prior reviews. A bit disappointing for sure!

The good outweighs the bad in La Forketta's case. La Forketta is a small Italian restaurant in a strip mall in Pompano Beach. From the outside you would think it was just another pizza joint. But once you enter you quickly realize nothing could be farther from the truth. We were greeted by the owners. They are a lovely Italian couple. About 6 months ago they decided to, sight unseen, buy a restaurant in America, pack up their house south of Milan and make the move. So this restaurant is basically a direct transplant from Italy. And the menu reflects this. The prices on the menu are so low for the quality of food that you get it is amazing. The menu has all the dishes you might expect to get cooked by a chef that also came over with them from Italy. The food was excellent. There was not one person in out group that didn't comment how this must be the most affordable, authentic Italian restaurant in the city. I should also note that the wine list has a small fun selection of wines all priced around $20. Everything we ordered was good. From the Branzino to various Pastas to Chicken Valdostana. Now for the bad. The service needs a lot of work. I understand in a packed small restaurant it is easy for the kitchen to get behind. But usually because the place is small the waiters can make up for this by making sure the glasses are always full and being attentive and informative. Here we had to beg to get a second bottle of wine. It took over an hour to get our main dishes. Then when we tried to order desert we ask three times and our waiter kept forgetting us. Finally we just got the check and left. BOTTOM LINE: This restaurant is brand new. And the owners are brand new to America. So we are going to overlook the rough service and give them another try. Because the food is good, the owners were lovely, and the prices are unbelievable. Hopefully they will read their Yelp reviews and fix the service issues.

3 visits in two weeks all with the same experience. TERRIBLE service. One waiter tries to do everything but it is too much for one. On all three occasions we repeatedly had to ask for refills of beverages. The waiter needs help. Some entrees were great others not. The chicken parmesan is excellent. On two of our three visits some of the entrees were served cool as if they had sat too long in the kitchen. Fish soup was a huge portion, expensive but very good. Pasta tasty but was cool and too dry. They do serve a fresh Italian bread with olive oil instead of the usual garlic bread which is a nice departure from the usual. Other Italian restaurants in the area have better value. You have to pay to add a salad or soup and then they are too big - almost a meal in themselves. This place needs considerable work or it will not survive.

Located in a strip shopping center in Pompano Beach, La Forketta is a small, intimate jewel of an Italian restaurant. We had arrived hours earlier and we're looking to Yelp for help with dining options. Yelp reviewers again delivered for us big time. We were warmly greeted and seated by our host Danny. The blackboard specials were clearly visible. Fresh, Fresh Fresh!!!! Cannelloni Venezia, a special was light but bursting with flavor. The Scallopini Al Fungi is amazing. The owners have relocated from Milan. I hope they prosper here. We will be back!!

Neighbors had told us the food here was good but O M G I thought I was back in Little Italy!! We seriously could not find fault with any of our choices and were very impressed from the Spaghetti alla Bolognese to the Quattro Formaggio and Margherita personal pizzas to the sliced apple puff pastry and even the bread. If you enjoy excellent Italian cuisine, be sure to dine here. A hidden gem!

Located back off the main highway in an aged and faded strip mall loaded with various less than marginal business is La Forketta. Though the location of the restaurant is rather unassuming and its outward appearance somewhat drab, I was very pleasantly surprised when I entered. To the contrary of what one might believe would be the situation from outside appearances, the inside was rather nice. It has good comfortable seating, a certain charm with a nice décor and a most welcoming and pleasant staff. Though they seem to emphasize pizza, which I've heard is very good, I was here in hopes having a real somewhat out of the ordinary Italian pasta, and on that count I wasn't disappointed. When going over the menu I noted a "LINGUINE MARE E MONTI," which in meaning simply translates to being a pasta of the "sea," being seafood ingredients, and of the "mountain," referring to mushrooms done in a cream base sauce. I had recently had this dish at Valentino, one of my favorite Italian restaurants which was very good, though at nearly three times the modest $14.00 menu price of Forketta. I ordered the Linguine Mare e Monte which when served contain good amounts of squid, porcini and other mushroom, light touches of fresh sautéed tomato and garlic blended together in a peppered cream sauce. In one word: delicious, matter of fact some of the most tasty I've ever had regardless of price or the fact that it lacked shrimp, clam, octopus, caper or other ingredients that I've had at higher priced (read much higher priced) restaurants or use when preparing it myself at home. Besides this particular dish, their menu has nine other pasta dishes, all of which I found to be of interest, and nine meat and fish dishes, even a "Branzino alla Marinara" consisting of sea bass, olives, capers and potatoes in a tomato base. Also, for soups, a Zuppa di Pesce and a Zuppa di Cipolle, neither of which are all that commonly found around the area or in such small, rather minor restaurants. Then, for wines, I found the selection unique as well as out of the ordinary of Italian varietals.

Really good chicken parmesan. Dropped in Saturday night. Definitely a family owned business... which has many upsides but a few downsides. Was nice seeing the woman who was the (I'm assuming) owner hug regular customers when they came in. The waiters seemed to be the sons. Not really polished... slow service at times. But overall a good experience. Weird location in a strip mall, but if you're in the neighborhood, it's a pretty legit Italian experience.

Very good quaint, family owned restaurant in a off beat, run down strip mall. We have dined there at least three times, each time enjoying a variety of dishes. Appetizers we sampled included, minestrone soup, (extremely large portion, light tomato base) tasty, with fresh zucchini, carrots, peas, etc. bruschetta was good, typical salad, good, pizza very good. Lasagna, pasta orecchiette, chicken parm with pasta, all very tasty! Desserts look great, but we never have room to try! Wine choices could be better, however there were enough choices to satisfy everyone's taste! Reasonable prices, good portion size, great wait staff! Yes, I recommend and will continue to frequent this great little restaurant!

Amazing food. There were six of us. Each ordered something different. All amazing dishes. Authentic Italian. Pasta is probably the best thing here.

Amazing & authentic Italian food! So good! I love fresh pasta so i come here often. My favorites are the pasta carbonara, the orecchiette with sausage and he diavola pizza. The owners are really nice too. Some days the service might be slow, but all worries cease when the food hits the table! It's worth the wait!

Authentic Italian food prepared by real Italians. Great menu with a nice wine list. Little tiny restaurant located in a strip mall. Call ahead for groups larger than 5.

We had a wonderful meal. There 12 of us and the food flowed. We had 4 ppetizers and 12 main courses. With the food came good service, laughter and then wonderful deserts. It reminded me of my travels in Italy. Exquisite plates of food and great wine. Ciao

First time here. Great new restaurant in Pompano. First arrived, was seated and served bread in a bag, olive oil and parm chesse to dip in. My partner is an exective chef and I enjoy his critiques. It was a bit cold, need to bring a sweater next time. Bruchetta mozzarella gratin arrived. It was awesome. A little much on the tomatoes. Mozzerella was sparse, but there. I ordered the Margarita pizza with olives. It was a thicker crust then I had in Italy, but good. A little doughy also. He ordered the lasagna. The bescamella sauce was tounge pleasing. Homemade pasta and bolognese sauce was delicious. Ended the meal with the original tiramisu. They were out of their strawberry tiramisu. They make the desserts at the restaurant, and it was delicious. Just one recommendation, need to work on their people/serving skills. We went half the meal without water.

I love to find these small hidden gems that have yet to be discovered by the masses. We ordered Bruschetta Italiana, lasagna and chicken parm and all were very good. Service while not perfect was corrected by our server taking care of us in a way that was appreciated. There nonetheless are a few quirks but all in all highly recommend this place. Note it is in a off beat location but their prices are so low and food so good I would suggest to everyone looking for a new place to try this place.

Absolutely amazing! I am an Italian American who grew up in an Italian house hold so I am very critical of any Italian food. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and it comes with a side of penne pasta. I am actually still eating it as I write this. It was so good I had to post this review before I finished my meal! It might be a bit pricey but it is worth every bite!

New place that has potential for a great restaurant...if they can fix their service problem. Very kind staff and owners, they care about their customers and were extremely apologetic for the service. The food was good...bread was wonderful but would have been better with some olive oil and fresh cracked black pepper. Salad was good though not dressed enough. We ordered one of the bruschetta starters which we could have done without as we didn't know it would be one piece of bread and another salad. Chicken parm was good, four cheese penne was good. Everything served this evening seemed to be a bit on the salty side but was overall quite good. Tiramisu was delicious. Their prices are very reasonable and on the low end for what they are serving. If they iron out their kinks they could do very well-and we will be back in a few weeks to try again. I wish them luck.

This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Broward county. My wife and I have been there twice and the food is excellent. Don't let the location and size fool you! This is a gem of a restaurant. I had the Insalata di Mare. It was fresh and very tasty! My wife and I also shared the Prosciutto di Parma E Burrata appetizer. It was a very generous portion of Prosciutto. As a Primi I had the Linguini Seafood. A fantastic dish loaded with fresh seafood. As a Secondi, i ordered the Scaloppine Al Funghi. An absolute fantastic dish which I had to share with my friends because it was too large to finish myself. I have mixed feelings about writing this review: This little restaurant is a hidden gem and I would like to keep it that way. On the other hand, I want the owners, who came from Milano last year, to succeed because this is a real North Italian culinary experience. As Arni said: "i'll be back!"

A true Italian trattoria has emerged in Pompano Beach. We sampled the a fettuccine dish with clams & shrimp, a margherita pizza, and the orecchiette with broccoli and sausage, and all were delicious. The prices are more than reasonable. The most outstanding thing about this place, though, is the warmth. No, the A/C wasn't broken! The owners, newly arrived from Milan, just put so much LIFE into each encounter with each customer you can just taste their passion. The food was great, but the experience was so much greater. While I will return to NY in a few days, where we have our share of great Italian restaurants, I will have very fond memories of La Forketta, and will return on my next trip to FL.

So we heard about his place from an Italian guy that raved about the food. I ordered the Lasagna and it tasted like chef Boyardee beefaroni smashed into a square to look like lasagna! Sauce tastes exactly like it. My aunt had the special Fettuccini with Wodka sauce (no I didn't miss type) with chicken and raw bacon in it. This place is supposedly packed at dinner...I don't know how with the food they have there! Save your money and go to a chain restaurant or buy a can of beefaroni! Very disappointed!

Amazing! New italian place. Home made italian food. The pasta is great, the appetizers are delicious, great wine and dessert, great service and incredible prices

We've been there a few times now. The food is consistently excellent with inventive specials and delicious pastas. The price for both food and wine are very reasonable. The owners and service are warm and friendly. The negatives are that service is generally on the chaotic side due to the layout of the small space and inexperience of the waitstaff. Reservations are sometimes tough and the staff doesn't answer the phone during business hours. All in all, another great dining option in Pompano Beach

Excellent food. Pasta and gnocchi were fresh made. Real Italian. Even the cappuccino was appropriately frothed lol. Ps. They have homemade tiramisu, none of that commercial stuff.

Great new Italian restaurant near Palm Aire in Pompano Beach. Really good food, all tasted fresh. Menu is extensive, may be a little too much for them to maintain quality long term. Owned and operated by a genuine Italian. Pasta dishes were done just right and the Tiramisu was to die for. They still have some kinks to work out as a new place if not I would have given them one more star. Good luck Mr. Fork!

Loved it!!! The lasagna was delicious. Service was great and the atmosphere was nice. The price was reasonable for the portion of food served. Real homemade Italian.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
